Wow, what an adventure you're on! I want to know more about this education journey! Fashion school? Creative Writing? So cool!
"Since 2004 I have attended; Junior College along the Sierra Mountains, Fashion School in San Francisco, gained a Creative Writing degree in Sonoma County, an online certificate in community climate initiatives, another in public administration, an MS in Environmental Policy, and now here I am, undertaking a PhD in Health Sciences, advocating for nature and time spent outdoors in natural settings as another tool for mental health intervention."
Yeah I had no idea what I was going to do after jr college. I stared out wanting to be a writer because I was placed in honors and advanced English classes in high school, then one mean (part time) professor at the JC said I was crap so I switched to biology but I couldn’t pass physics or trigonometry so at the last minute I went to FIDM. Worked as a retail a manger for 9 years threw out my back lifting shelves at the young age of 26 went back to school for creative writing. Couldn’t give up on my science dream though so eventually found work writing science policy which lead to the MS in enviro policy and that got me into the PhD program here in NZ! 😅
This post resonated big time! I have been contemplating a PhD (or EdD) journey and reading this was serendipitous for many reasons. Thank you for sharing your journey!
